S. Gregory (Greg) Allen founded Graphcom from the basement of his home in 1982. Under his leadership, the company moved well beyond the basement walls and expanded to include a state-of-the-art print production facility, a print design and web development firm (Graphcom Creative), wide-format printing and signage manufacturer (Signs by Graphcom), a scenic effects division (Field and Floor FX), and a publisher of consumer periodicals including Celebrate Gettysburg and Frederick Gorilla magazines.
As CEO, Greg interacts with our executive management team and provides advice, council, and approval on all corporate matters in a highly collaborative atmosphere. As general manager of Signs by Graphcom, Greg oversees signage and fabric production with special emphasis on discovering and developing unique opportunities for the division’s services—a testament to his creative, strategic personality.
Greg’s philosophy of doing business is simple. “I don’t have the traditional printer or sign-maker biases. What I do is immerse myself in my customer’s world and work selflessly to help them achieve their objectives. That doesn’t always result in a sale, but it does result in a long-term relationship.”
Greg’s experience in the business world began with his first job in retail at age 15. On-the-job training offered him direct experience with creating sales campaigns and interacting with customers. At age 24, Greg had developed customer relationships with individuals nationally and internationally. It was this job, and the opportunity to manage the company’s in-plant print shop, that introduced Greg to printing and the eventual establishment of Graphcom.
